Elliott Burges.
Welcome to my website, and thank you for visiting.
I am currently seeking opportunities in the IT sector.
My background is rooted in a lifelong engagement with technology.
From gaming with friends to building PCs and providing tech support,
my hobbies have fostered a strong understanding of computer systems.
This year, I have committed myself to furthering my knowledge of
computing through practical projects. I am utilizing languages such as C#,
JavaScript, and web development tools like CSS and HTML. I am dedicated to
expanding my technical expertise and honing my skills through hands-on
projects.
While my projects are still evolving, they have provided valuable
insights into the complexity of the field and underscored my commitment to
ongoing improvement. Beyond personal growth, I am eager to collaborate with
professionals who share a dedication to crafting exceptional products..
Learning how to Learn is a lifelong Journey
Self-taught, I primarily utilize JavaScript for scripting website features, including projects section and navigation bar on this website. While my experience with this language is limited, I've gained proficiency in fundamental concepts such as prototypes and ES6 syntax habits.
I possess a high level of comfort with HTML/CSS. Much of the work in learning this domain is frontloaded, involving memorization and understanding of each object type and CSS variable. While confident in my current skill set, I recognize the potential for improvement in CSS efficiency and class structure.
In my journey with C#, I've enthusiastically embraced a self-guided approach. Drawn to its clear syntax, expressive style, and object orientated nature, navigating through projects feels very comfortable. I am eager to refine my skills and deepen my understanding of this versatile language.

You made it this far.. here's some more about me
NixOS stands out as an adventurous Linux distribution, pioneering the concept of 'Declarative Configuration' or 'OS as Code'. Its key advantages lie in highly reproducible configurations, rollback capability, and freedom from dependency conflicts. While mastering this OS presents a formidable learning curve, I find it an engaging hobby, continually exploring its custom language and intricacies. Despite the somewhat sparse documentation, its potential benefits, particularly in reproducing development environments alongside Docker, make it a valuable asset for future career endeavors.
While I'm more of a spectator than a player these days, my passion for competitive real-time strategy (RTS) games like Starcraft 2, Brood War, and Age of Empires 2 runs deep. These games demand a keen ability to multitask and prioritize tasks, requiring quick decision-making and adaptability. While daunting for newcomers, mastering these skills brings immense satisfaction, often leading to a flow-state of mind. My dedication to learning and mastering these games as a teenager instilled in me the confidence that with determination, I can learn and excel in almost any endeavor.
While nature walks may have felt like a chore during my upbringing, I've come to cherish the tranquility and rejuvenation they offer. Whether it's jogging along the Brisbane River or hiking up Mt Coot-tha, immersing myself in nature has become an integral part of my routine for maintaining both physical and mental well-being.
